FILL IN PLAYERS

When can we have fill-in players?

If there are 5 or less players, you can use fill-in players to make up to 6 players.

Penalties will apply to those teams that don't follow this rule.

How many games can a fill-in player play?

Any player who fills in for 3 games MUST then register with the Club to be eligible to play any further games for your team. Team managers are asked to notify the Kangas Registrar once a player has filled in for 3 games to arrange registration if you intend to have an individual play any further.

Penalties will apply to those teams who have player fill in more than 3 games such as ineligibility of that player for finals and teams forfeiting games in which a player plays more than 3 games unregistered.

Who can fill in the games?

Fill-in players may only be sourced:

• from the age group/grade in accordance with the prescribed `Fill-in Matrix' below, or
• is a player who is of the correct age and does not hold a current Basketball Victoria licence (eg - player is not registered with another junior basketball competition)

Note:

• A Club can source a fill-in player only from within their own Club; however, this fill-in can be from a team on the same day of competition or from a team within their club on another day/night of MEBA Competition
• Examples:
  • Saturday boys player from the club can fill-in for a Friday boys team from the same club provided they do not play for another club on a Saturday and meet the age/grade criteria in the “Fill-In Matrix”.
  • U13 girls players playing on Saturdays cannot fill in for Monday U13 teams, but a U11 player meets the age criteria in the “Fill-In Matrix” can.

If you require a fill in player for your team and you use a player from another team, you need to ensure they are allowed to play in your grade (otherwise your team will forfeit points if they win). Please check with your Age Group Co-ordinator to ensure the player qualifies to play in your grade.
